Responsibility & Law: Recycling a Legal Requirement in Wales
Wales has earned the impressive title of the world’s second-best recycling nation, a testament to the dedicated recycling efforts of both households and businesses within Wales.
On April 6th, the Welsh Government implemented a new law that requires all businesses in Wales to separate all recyclable materials into different waste streams separate from their general waste. This legislation builds on Wales’ impressive record of high household recycling rates.
Under this new regulation, businesses are now legally required to categorize their recyclable materials into six core waste streams:
- Food
- Paper and card
- Glass
- Metal, plastic, and cartons
- Unsold Textiles
- Unsold small waste electrical and electronic equipment
If a business fails to comply with the new recycling law by mixing recyclable materials with general waste, the business may face significant fines.

Our team hand-sorts through the waste to ensure that no recyclable materials end up in landfills.
