New Recycling Facility at Tyddyn Isaf
Wales is ranked third in the world on the global recycling leaderboard with households on Anglesey recycling up to 65.4% of their waste.
Being a 5-star camping and caravan park located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Anglesey, North Wales, sustainability is extremely important to us, and we encourage our campsite guests to help preserve the natural and beautiful landscape surrounding Tyddyn Isaf Caravan and Camping Park by recycling as much as possible.
Being a caravan and campsite by the beach, we are conscious about litter that may escape into the nearby sea of Lligwy Bay or onto nearby land where farm animals and an abundance of wildlife reside. Our staff conduct regular patrols of the caravan site to make sure that no waste is left behind and dispose of anything retrieved appropriately.
We have a large recycling station which includes several bins that are dedicated to specific recyclable materials i.e., glass, cardboard, plastic and a large green compactor – commonly known as Kermit. Kermit can be fed with more general waste and is hand-sorted on a picking line where any misplaced recyclable materials will be diverted from the waste. We can proudly say that NONE of our waste makes it to landfill and is either recycled or repurposed.
Oftentimes, we try to reuse materials wherever possible such as utilizing the wood cuttings from hazel that grows amongst the hedgerows, as a plant support for the newly seeded flora. We also recycle the corrugated and flat cardboard packaging from our deliveries and use it within our compost which is then used to help our plants thrive.
Our recycling centre is also lit with sympathetic, motion sensor lighting which ensures the lights are only used when there isn’t adequate daylight. The lighting is also dark sky friendly, meaning that light pollution is significantly reduced as these lights emit light from below, rather than above. The use of these lights means you can enjoy the beauty of the night sky, and if you’re lucky, you may see the Northern Lights.
Below is a visual impact report that demonstrates the collective efforts of our campsite guests and the team at Tyddyn Isaf.
Help us leave footprints – not litter.
