Our Charity Book Exchange – Small Donations That Make a Big Difference
If you’ve visited our coffee shop you may have noticed the little bookshelf that is home to our charity book exchange, where guests are welcome to browse, borrow or purchase a book in return for a small donation.
While it may only occupy a small corner of the coffee shop, it has become one of our favourite fundraising initiatives.
Throughout 2025, thanks to the generosity of our holiday home owners, touring guests and visitors, our book exchange raised an incredible £336.20.
Every penny donated is shared between two charities that are close to our hearts:
- RNLI Moelfre Lifeboat, whose volunteer crews provide a vital lifesaving service along the Anglesey coastline.
- Guide Dogs (Anglesey Branch), helping people with sight loss to live with greater confidence and independence.
One of the things we love most about the book exchange is that it gives books a second life…A novel enjoyed by one family can go on to be discovered by another, creating a small circular economy while raising money for worthwhile causes at the same time.
It’s a lovely reminder to all of us that sustainability isn’t always about major projects, and that sometimes it’s simply about reusing something that still has plenty to offer, reducing waste and supporting others along the way.
Our shelves are always evolving, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated books over the years. Whether it’s a bestselling thriller, a holiday romance, a gripping autobiography or a children’s favourite, every donation helps keep the shelves stocked and the fundraising going.
If you’re planning a visit to Tyddyn Isaf and have a few books at home that you’ve finished with, we’d be delighted to give them a new home. Simply bring them along during your stay and add them to the bookshelf for future guests to enjoy.
Every book donated has the potential to be read many more times, and every donation helps make a difference.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our charity book exchange so far. Together you’ve helped turn a small bookshelf into something that benefits both our local community and two fantastic charities.
We can’t wait to see which stories arrive on the shelf next.
