Striving for Net Zero: Tyddyn Isaf 2022 Carbon Report
In 2022, we partnered with the Green Digital Academy and Grwp Llandrillo Menai to conduct a case study on Tyddyn Isaf Camping and Caravan Park. This study aimed to verify our progress towards achieving net-zero status and to identify and reduce the sources of our carbon emissions.
The case study focused on our monitored activities, including onsite vehicle usage, electricity consumption, gas usage across the park, and waste management. The analysis concluded that our annual CO2 emissions amounted to 62,470 tonnes, with the primary contributor being the propane gas used in individual holiday homes.
Our main aim is a substantial reduction in carbon emissions produced from our activities over time, with the aim of achieving net-zero status by 2030.
At Tyddyn Isaf, we already use electric scooters and electric vehicles for navigating different areas of the park. However, we are committed to expanding our electric vehicles further to reduce our carbon footprint.
Additionally, we are exploring the implementation of battery storage for our solar panels. This system would store surplus solar energy for later use during off-peak periods, providing power for heating and lighting in our office buildings, thus reducing our reliance on gas.
Furthermore, we have changing the materials that we construct any new building from, using sustainable timber frames and installing significantly improved insulation within to better retain heat. This will mean that our newer buildings have significantly improved energy ratings.
Last year, we received an invitation to attend the North Wales Business Club Event, organized in partnership with Gwrp Llandrillo Menai and Green Digital Skills, to acknowledge our dedication to sustainability and our goal of achieving net-zero emissions. At the event, we engaged with fellow businesses from across North Wales, especially those pioneering innovative sustainability strategies.
