Our Sustainable Places
Our Sustainable Places
The "Place" section of the Green Tourism Accreditation focuses on the promotion, awareness and engagement of sustainable tourism. It assesses how we promote the local environment and culture, encourage sustainability, and how we reduce the environmental impact of biodiversity and travel.
Promote The Area and Culture
Tyddyn Isaf Caravan Park is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) by Lligwy Bay on Anglesey - we take great pride in showcasing the breathtaking environment that surrounds us. Upon guests' arrival, we provide an online app full of details about local attractions and intriguing snippets of Welsh history / language, aiming to inspire visitors to learn about the culture of Wales.
Tyddyn Isaf is located just a stone's throw away from the breathtaking Anglesey coastal path. We consistently encourage our guests to explore this picturesque route, allowing them to experience the beauty of the protected area. Complimentary maps of Anglesey are provided, offering a guide to the coastal path.
Supporting Local Producers & Suppliers
We actively support local businesses and suppliers across all aspects of Tyddyn Isaf, but particularly when it comes to our diverse selection of beverages and food offerings. Our own branded crafted lager and ales are produced by the local brewery, Snowdon Craft. Additionally, we proudly stock locally crafted alcoholic drinks, such as gin from both Aberfalls Distillery and Anglesey Mon Distillery.
We source our coffee beans from Cuffed-in-Coffee, a Holyhead-based local business. They freshly roast our beans upon order, and their exceptional product has earned them a prestigious Great Taste Award.
Sustainable Travel
Our team uses electric scooters and electric vehicles to navigate various areas of Tyddyn Isaf Caravan park, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
To further support sustainable practices, we have installed two electric charging points on our park, accessible to both guests and visitors. This eliminates the need for our guests to travel long distances for recharging.
Limit Our Impact on Biodiversity
As part of our Environmental Policy, Tyddyn Isaf Camping and Caravan Park employs a traditional approach to pasture management. This method, characterised by its low intensity, promotes habitats for a greater variety of wildlife. The substantial clover content in our pastures enhances nitrogen fixation, diminishing the necessity for artificial fertilisers.
We actively contribute to habitat restoration initiatives by establishing natural habitats for endangered species. In 2022, we took a significant step by constructing a hibernaculum for a newt, utilising only natural materials.
